The main character is Shade. He has lots of characteristics like bravery, helpful, loyalty and more. I wonder what's the best characteristic that Shade will fit into? Now I know it's Determination. He's characteristic made a lot of changes in the book. He'll do anything just to get what he wants, for example he want to find his father so badly. He also wants to get out of the place called paradise and the flying machine because he's feeling uncomfortable of what the humans are doing to them that time.
Shade was so determined to find his father, he'll do anything just for it. He went to a building full of bats called paradise because he thought that his father was there but unfortunately his father's not there. He still didn't give up finding his father after that situation. He once said,"He's got to be here. He came here late last spring. He knew about this place! He must have come here-before anyone else even. He's here!" this quote means shade doesn't want to give up finding his father. This is an example of determination.
One time Shade and the others woke up and the other bats were missing. Acadia said that the humans took them because they were chosen but Shade doesn't believe in Acadia .Shade noticed that the building they were staying in is dangerous because the humans are taking his fellow bats and he thought that they were using the bats as experiments. So he wants to find a way out. He searched all the places around the paradise to know where the way out and he won't give up until he found the place. This is a sign of determination.
Shade and the others are locked up in a flying machine because of the humans. They don't know where they going and what are they doing in it. Shade wants to get out because he's not comfortable of what the humans are doing to them. With the help of his friend Chinook and the other bats, they tried to push the door. While they are doing these Shade said,"The panel's unlocked. Anyone who wants to can leave. Come on, Chinook we're going out of here!" This quote means that Shade wants to get out of the flying machine whatever happens.
I thought this book will be boring but as I continue reading it, it amazes me because Shade wants to prove himself that he can do anything he wants. He just needs to focus on what he's doing. Remember the time that you read the three examples, he used determination in all of the events, this means that he is determined to do anything. That's why I chose this characteristic.
