Student Voice 3

How can students voice help develop 21st century skills?
Students voice can help develop 21st century skills by helping each other to have their voices louder. Some of the 21st century skills are creativity, knowledge, collaborative and more. If all the students voices speak up, they can use their own skills to develop the 21st century skills.  In the 21st century, technology takes a big part in it. We know that a lot of students use technology a lot, and there are also some students that is learning 21st century skills, those students can help the others to develop 21st century skills. Students voices can do a lot of things, that;s why TCDSB should listen to students ideas. I's sure that our school will be better, if TCDSB will start listeningto students ideas.

Student Voice 2

What benefits are there for the board to listen to students?
Students voice can help the school board in many different ways. There are a lot of benefits for the board to listen to students. We can help improve the way we learn in school, if TCDSB will hear us. For example, we can tell them what's wrong in our school, like the portables the students doesn't want to study their lessons in portables. The students can help in finding the right and comfortable technology that they can use in the school for their education. Lots of students at this time know what's the best computer for everyone.  If TCDSB or the school will listen to the students good ideas for a better school, they can turn their job to an easier one. If everyone will listen to the students voice, everyone will be happy.

So students speak up your voices, we can help each other to have a louder voice.

How can student voice help to change school policy?
Do you want your voice to be heard? Of course, it's a great opportunity. In our school board TCDSB, they sometimes listen to what the students' want but mostly they refer on what the parent's wants for the students. If the TCDSB heard the students voice, they might change some rules or whatever the students wants. For example, most students want colourful classrooms, then if the school board heard us they might change the white classrooms into colourful ones. We know that TCDSB wants the best for all of us. If they change what we want, the other students might study more.

School Reform: Split Class

Do you really want a split class? Of course I don't because there is a different grade in your class and you study together. Having a different grade in class might be hard because you have different things to study and you have the same class and teacher to share with. Mostly some students don't get the attention of the teacher and sometimes get confuse with what they're learning. For the school, split class is sure a big help with the classrooms because the school use less classrooms. I want the schools to remove the split classes because it's not good for the education of the students.

School Reform: Lockers

Do you want a locker? For me, yes I do want one. Having lockers in school is fun and it really make you more organize in school. I used to have a locker in my old school, and it's really cool. I put almost everything in it. In middle school, we sure will have lockers but if we have lockers in elementary, our school bags won't be that heavy as before. There are a lot of advantages of having a locker, like we can put anything we want on our lockers and we can be more organize with our school works because we put it in our locker. Lockers have disadvantages too, such as you can't study if all the books are in the locker, you might forget the key or code and people might steal your stuff.  For my opinion, even though lockers has lots of advantages and disadvantages, it's still help the students in school. I think we should put lockers in elementary school too.

School Reform: Technology

You might be so happy if we always use technological stuff in school, right? Of course, I do. Imagine using iPads, netbooks and smart boards everyday, it will be so cool, so fun and educational. Using netbooks help us to research more facts about the things that we're learning. For example, we use the smart boards and net books to present our powerpoint or prezi project. It also help us to grow our knowledge about technology, if we always use them. In class, some of our textbooks are outdated, we can use the netbooks to find some websites that are related to the lessons that we're learning. Teachers might like this idea of using technology too.

Having technology in class has disadvantages too, like the students might go to some inappropriate websites that's not allowed in class. Another disadvantage is that the student might use this as an excuse just to go on the computer at home but he/she might go to a different website and is not doing his/her homework. Technology do have some disadvantages but always remember that technology can always help us with almost everything. Overall, I think TCDSB should put more technology things in school.
